This is what it will say, Punkbbuster has kicked 'username" for Restriction: Unknown Windows API Function Anybody know how I may be able to run PR in Windows 7 Beta?
#Punkbuster update bf2 mod
I have BF2 and PR mod installed with no problems, I can then go into a server to play but almost instantly get kicked from PunkBuster(PB). I searched my computer thoroughly and the only place I located PnkBstrA.exe was in C:\Windows\SysWOW64.Īs it states I got problems with Project Reality(PR) and I imagine it also carries over to Battlefield 2(BF2). This is the location where you want to edit PnkBstrA.exe and where PnkBstrB.exe should appear after A executes properly.Īre you using the Windows 7 Beta 圆4? I am and I have no PnkBstrA.exe in the C:\Windows\system32 folder at all even after makign sure all files and folders were not hidden. What is the 'Path to executable' in the Properties of the PnkBstrA service at Services (Windows Key + R, services.msc)? I've included an example below - PB is notorious for spamming the services all over your system (game folders, system folders, Application Data, etc.). EvenBalance has always been run by special people who hardly give a damn about aforementioned users. PunkBuster has always been a special program which mostly 'busts' people who haven't touched a cheat, hack or other game exploit in their entire life. I'm assuming there's a chance these steps have to be repeated in case PB updates any or both of these services. This worked for Enemy Territory, I haven't tried BF2 myself yet. Repeat the same steps as above for C:\Windows\system32\PnkBstrB.exe ' and 'PunkBuster Client: PnkBstrB service installed and started successfully' Run the game and check the console for something like 'PunkBuster Client: PnkBstrA successfully loaded PnkBstrB Right click on PnkBstrA.exe -> Properties -> Compatibility (Tab) -> check 'Run this program as an administrator' and press OK Open Explorer and go to C:\Windows\system32\ Punkbbuster has kicked 'username" for Restriction: Unknown Windows API Function Īnybody know how I may be able to run PR in Windows 7 Beta? - Make sure PnkBstrA.exe isn't running (stop it over at Services or kill the process in the Task Manager)
Installed with no problems, I can then go into a server to play butĪlmost instantly get kicked from PunkBuster(PB). Guess they don't look at it like that since it isn't making them a dollar today.Īs it states I got problems with Project Reality(PR) and I imagine itĪlso carries over to Battlefield 2(BF2). I know Windows 7 Beta is just that, a BETA but still the hype that is being directed towards Windows 7 and it's performance over the other operating systems(talking about Vista and how demanding it is) would lead EvenBalance to help work out the bugs for better a better gaming experience at retail. So, for the gamers that really wanted to see the performance of Windows 7 Beta we are left out in the cold unless somebody outside EvenBalance can work up a fix for the PB kicks. Also further reading I came to find out EvenBalance has no intentions of putting out any fixes for Windows 7 Beta not till Windows 7 goes retail.
#Punkbuster update bf2 code
Not everybody will get the same error code from what I have read and seen. From what I gather it is not due to the configuration of hardware in the computer. Apparently some people are able to run BF2, PR, CoD4, and a lot of other games fine in Windows 7 Beta but others can't. Well, after doing so much searching on the internet I have found nothing that would help me. If anybody else comes up with a solution please post. Maybe try setting compatibility to run as Windows Vista or XP SP2.
I will keep trying a few things and checking other places as well.
I tried doing as described above with the "Run as Administrator" but this time I got a different message when I was boot from the server.
#Punkbuster update bf2 64 Bit
64 bit must be different than the 32 bit if it is supposed to be in the C:\Windows\system32 folder. If it works I will post back so any others that search for this same problem will have an answer.īTW, I searched Windows 7 Beta and found the PnkBstrA.exe in C:\Windows\SysWOW64. You have the most promising answer so far. I will give it a go, so many other forums and people I have talked to claim PB will not allow W7 to run at all for any game.
